The amazing Pirates of Poole
T'was a chilly night on the shores of Poole, when Pirates aplenty came staggering ashore after a year of plundering to spread the wealth of their sea-faring antics!
This year, Poole Town FC's Kids Initiative was lucky to be chosen as one of their charitable cause collections along with Poole Disabled Club and DAWG dogs.
La Mia's Restaurant, Poole Quay
Gathering at the wonderful La Mia's restaurant on Poole Quay (well worth a visit!), we were staggered and humbled to receive an amazing £2,500.00 from this fabulous group of volunteers. This bunch give up so much of their time to raise funds to help small charitable causes and it means so much.
Richard Gale - Founder of Poole Town FC's Kids Initiative
Richard Gale (Poole Town FC Director and Founder of the Kids Initiative), was blown away by the amount raised and donated.
"This will give so much to the children of Poole and allow us to put on more sessions, to buy more equipment and cover venue and coaching costs. To put it into perspective, this amount of money could help somewhere in the region 20 children enjoy one free session of football every week of the school term for three years - that's over 2,300 children"
"These sessions provide a mental and physical release for children who may not have access to football for a variety of reasons and are extremely popular, with waiting lists on all sessions"
So from everyone at Poole Town FC, Poole Town FC Wessex and most importantly the children who will benefit from this superb gesture - we thank the Pirates of Poole from the bottom of our hearts.
